Town Schedules Kickoff Workshop
on Plan of Conservation and Development
The Town of Wilton has scheduled a public workshop to obtain input from Wilton residents for the preparation of the 2009 Plan of Conservation and Development. The workshop is intended to involve Town residents in exercises that will help identify issues and priorities for the Town to address in the coming years.
The workshop is scheduled for:
Monday, March 3, 2008 at 7:00PM
Wilton High School cafeteria
395 Danbury Road
The most recent Plan of Conservation and Development for the Town was adopted in 1999. The current planning effort will evaluate the 1999 Plan and how the Plan should be amended to reflect current issues and priorities.
“This meeting is a significant first step in the planning process because it is essential to understand what issues Wilton residents feel are important,” stated Sally Poundstone, Chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Residents in Wilton are encouraged to bring their views, concerns, and questions to this and subsequent workshops to ensure that the 2009 Plan of Conservation and Development accurately reflects the community’s vision as it is used to guide future conservation and development activity over the next decade and beyond.
“It is important that a broad spectrum of Wilton residents and business owners attend these workshops because the success of the Plan depends upon their input, continued interest, and involvement in its implementation,” added Robert Nerney, Town Planner.
The Plan is being prepared with the assistance of Planimetrics, an Avon-based land use planning and consulting firm which assists towns with preparation of Plans of Conservation and Development.
In addition to the planned March meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission has been holding workshop meetings every first Monday of the month at the Town Hall Annex meeting room. Further information may be obtained by contacting the Planning and Zoning Department at (203) 563-0185.
