Traffic & Construction Update

August 8, 2008

The Wilton Police Department has released details of upcoming work on the Route 7 widening project.

Tilcon will be working at night from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, beginning Monday night, August 11, through Saturday morning, August 16. They will be paving in the Route 7 area between Wilton Chevy and Deerfield Road next Friday, August 15.

In the coming weeks, Tilcon will be working in the Route 7 and Wolfpit Road area. The plans call for one lane on Route 7 in each direction during the construction phase. DOT will be working to allow turning lanes during this work period.

Tilcon will be paving several areas in the weeks ahead. They will be widening and shifting traffic in the Deerfield Road to Sharp Hill Road area. Tilcon will continue to work in the northern sections paving and preparing the stage construction areas. This work should have little impact on traffic flow. Any lane closures will be done during nighttime hours.

The lower Main R&R entrance (old Citgo) is being prepped and paved and should be ready soon. It is estimated that the entrance will be accessible in one to two weeks.

The intersection in front of Town Hall will remain as is until the west side of Route 7 is complete. It is expected to be completed by next year.

DOT will work on restoring the turning lanes at the YMCA/WHS intersection by the start of the 2008/2009 school year.

DOT & Tilcon are working toward smoothing the roadway from Wolfpit Rd. to the Wilton Town Hall. The roadway was patched due to the recent drainage/water service work in that area.
