Clone of Coronavirus Update- New Case, EO 9G, COVID Coaching Resource, FEMA Reimbursement, Travel Advisory Changes & Case Data

October 15th –The following are highlights from today’s CT DPH report versus Monday’s October 11th report.

  • Wilton: 1 new case.
  • Statewide: 651 new cases.  1.73% of current tests performed reported positive.
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 36-net patient increase. The number of hospitalized patients exceeded the number of hospitalized patients on June 16th, the day before the start of Phase 2.  Fairfield County, 6-net patient increase.
  • Deaths: Statewide, 8.  Fairfield County, 1.

On Tuesday, the Governor issued Executive Order 9G. The order is effective today and provides municipalities, with a 14-day average cases per day of 15 per 100,000 or higher, the authority to revert to the more restrictive pre-October 8, 2020 size and capacity limitations and rules for certain businesses and gatherings.  This was done in recognition of the fact that municipalities have different COVID experiences.

Today, CT DPH began publishing the 14-day rolling average per day cases for 100,000 residents for each municipality.  Eleven municipalities, including Danbury, had a 14-day average cases per day of 15 or higher.

Social Services Director Sarah Heath reminds residents as the rate of cases, hospitalizations and deaths increases across the country and the state, we understand the challenges faced by many residents and the ramifications of quarantining or self-isolation. The Department of Social Services can help with various resources.  One new local resource is from Family and Children’s Agency, which can help any resident needing support, at no cost, through a program called COACH.  Please contact Sarah Heath at sarah.heath@wiltonct.org or 203-834-6238 to learn more about this support program and other resources or contact Family and Children’s directly at (203-831-2900).

Town and BOE CFO Anne Kelly-Lenz announced the Town has been awarded a FEMA grant of $38, 849, representing 75% reimbursement of qualified COVID-19 related expenses incurred through March 31, 2020.  Anne also applied to the State for reimbursement of the remaining 25% of qualified expenses.  Any state reimbursement will be paid from funds the State previously received from the Federal government.  Applications have also been made for FEMA and state reimbursement of Town and BOE qualified COVID-19 costs incurred during the second quarter of calendar year 2020.

The Connecticut Travel Advisory was updated on Tuesday.  Three additional states were added.  Please review if you plan to travel or are having guests.
