Coronavirus Update-Changes to Gatherings as of MONDAY, June 1st, Hair Salons and Barbershops & Case Data

May 29th-This evening the Governor issued Executive Order 7TT, which includes changes to gathering sizes effective June 1st, as follows:

  • Effective June 1st, and subject to the following restrictions, indoor recreational and social gatherings are allowed for up to 10 people and outdoor recreational and social gatherings are allowed for up to 25 people.  Restrictions:
    • “No contact sports or sports that include shared handling of objects such as balls or frisbees are allowed.”
    • “Attendees shall remain six feet apart, excluding immediate family members, caretakers and household members, and, except when dining, masks shall be worn when within six feet of those not in the same household.”
    • “If the event is an organized gathering, the organizer shall demarcate six feet of spacing in the area of the gathering to demonstrate appropriate spacing for social distancing.”
  • Effective June 1st, Sector Rules and Essential Business guidance imposing a 5-person limit on outdoor activities are superseded by the order, but all other restrictions remain in place.
  • Effective June 1st, indoor religious, spiritual and worship gatherings are allowed at 25% of indoor capacity or a maximum of 100, whichever is smaller.  Those same gatherings are allowed outdoors with a maximum of 150, subject to restrictions.

Over the weekend, Parks and Recreation Department staff will be reviewing the executive order.  Look for more information next week. 

Also, on June 1st, barbershop and hair salons are allowed to open, subject to the rules previously issued by the Department of Economic and Community Development. 

Earlier today, town staff discussed options to increase access to the Stadium track.  Look for more details next week. 

CT DPH reported 56 new cases in Fairfield County. Cases now total 15,409. Wilton remains at 201 cases. Fairfield County hospitalizations decreased by 23 to 188. Deaths in Fairfield County rose by 11 to 1,257. 

Statewide, CT DPH reported 203 new cases for a total of 41,762 laboratory-confirmed cases, as of 8:30 p.m. yesterday. 226 cases have not yet been assigned to a municipality.  5,868 new tests were performed for a pandemic-to-date total of 241,393 in Connecticut.  Statewide deaths rose by 42 to 3,868.  Statewide hospitalizations decreased by 71 patients to 577.

CT DPH also released the following laboratory-confirmed cases, laboratory-confirmed deaths and Coronavirus probable deaths for Wilton’s nursing home and assisted living facilities:

  • As of May 27th, Wilton Meadows Nursing Home:  28, 8, 18
  • As of May 28th, Sunrise Assisted Living:  1, 1, 0
  • As of May 28th, The Greens Assisted Living:  17, 6, 1
