Coronavirus Update-Future Clinics, Vaccine & Case Data

January 21st -Today, the Wilton Health Department and Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County held a vaccine clinic for Phase 1A and those aged 75 and up.  Prior to any future vaccine clinic, Wilton residents will receive notice to help ensure appointments are available to residents.

CT DPH expects Connecticut will continue to receive only 46,000 vaccines a week for the next several weeks.  The State has begun opening new large scale vaccines centers.  With additional and larger vaccine centers opening, existing vaccine administrators, particularly small ones like Wilton, will likely begin receiving less vaccines than previously received.

If you are having trouble scheduling an appointment through VAMS, please contact Social Services Director Sarah Heath or Senior Center Coordinator Stephanie Rowe for individualized assistance.  You can also view Stephanie’s step-by-step instructional video.  The video has gone viral with many first selectmen sharing the video.  Today, CT DPH requested permission to use an edited version of the video.  They plan to remove Wilton specific references, but will give Wilton Social Services credit for the video.  Thank you Sarah and Stephanie for your assistance to residents across Connecticut!

Vaccine and Case Data:

This afternoon, the Governor reported 258,267 vaccines have been administered, 226,930 first doses and 31,337 second doses.

Wilton and 163 other municipalities remain red alert communities according to a release from CT DPH.

The following is data, as of 8:30 p.m. last night, from today’s CT DPH report versus Tuesday’s January 19th report.  As such, it reflects activity for two days:

  • Wilton:  3 new cases reported. 719 cases pandemic-to-day (PTD).  Please note, these numbers likely do not include new cases reported for Wilton High School students.  Lab reporting to CT DPH often lags by at least a day.  CT DPH's daily report is as of the previous day, therefore the report often lags by at least two days.  Self-reported cases to the school or the Wilton Health Department are generally timelier. For that reason, we encourage residents to contact the Wilton Health Department and the schools, when appropriate, if they receive a positive test result. Please contact the Health Department at (203) 604-7088; the Wilton High School at (203) 762-3381 Ext. 8324.
  • Statewide:  3,577 new cases.  5.15% of the 69,418 new tests reported were positive.  235,796 cases PTD.
  • Fairfield County 1,092 new cases.  68,709 cases PTD.
  • Hospitalized Patients:  Statewide1,069 with a 74-net patient decrease. Fairfield County279 with a 4-net patient decrease.
  • Deaths:  Statewide, 6,774 with 92 new deaths.  Fairfield County, 1,868 with 15 new deaths.  Wilton, 46, unfortunately with one new death.  Our thoughts are with the family members.

The following chart shows the distribution of known cases by age for previous periods and the most recent 7-day period ended January 18th.  My next update will include the current week.

With the uptick in cases and the variant strain of the virus found in Connecticut, please exercise extra caution and behave as if you have the virus and as if those around you do as well.
