Coronavirus Update-New Cases, When Is the Right Time to Call the Town Clerk About Absentee Ballot Applications, EO 9C & Case Data

September 21st– The following are highlights from today’s CT DPH report versus Thursday’s September 17th report:

  • Wilton: 2 new cases.
  • Statewide:  638 new cases. 1.1% of tests performed reported positive.
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 7-net patient increase. Fairfield County, no change.
  • Deaths: Statewide, 7.  Fairfield County, one.

As seen across the state, the growth in Wilton cases is primarily driven by those aged 20 to 29.

Please remember that masks are required anytime you are within 6 feet of another person, even when outside.  Please speak with your children to remind them of the requirement. We have received reports of no masks on the NRVT, in Wilton Center and at school bus stops.  We don’t want to have to issue fines. Instead, we hope residents will voluntarily wear masks for their own sake and that of the community.  Thank you for your cooperation.

The Town Clerk’s office has been flooded with calls from residents inquiring as to whether their absentee ballot application was received. Even with additional personnel having been hired, the time required to answer these calls has made it difficult for personnel to keep up with incoming applications.  At this point, there is no reason to call the Town Clerk’s office, as ballots can’t be mailed until October 2nd.

You can track mailed ballots on the Secretary of State’s website.  If you submitted an application prior to October 2nd and you don’t see that the ballot was mailed by October 5th, make your inquiry then.  Applications received on or after October 2nd, must be mailed within 48 hours.  Additional information is available here.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Last week, Governor Lamont issued Executive 9B, which included a contradictory sentence in section 1 related to travel outside Connecticut.   The Governor issued Executive Order 9C, which repeals and replaces section 1 of Executive Order 9B.
