Opportunities to Volunteer within Town Government

Our town government depends on the hard work and dedication of its Board and Commission volunteers. It is these very volunteers whose work and talents help make Wilton such a vibrant community. At present, there are a number of opportunities to volunteer, including:

Inland Wetlands Commission (one position):  The commission’s role is to conserve, protect, supervise, and regulate the wetlands and watercourses within the Town of Wilton.  Commissioners review applications on land use projects within wetlands and watercourses and within the regulated areas adjacent to them.  The Commission also addresses violations and corresponding corrective action.

The Commission is comprised of seven members who serve in three-year terms.  Residents with a legal background would be of particular benefit to the commission.

Wilton Library Association-Board of Selectmen Trustee (two positions):  As a Board of Selectmen trustee, one serves on the Board as a representative of the town and the taxpayers.  Residents with a background in accounting or an interest in fundraising would be of particular benefit to the board.

Parks and Recreation Commission (one position): The Commission works with the Parks and Recreation Department to provide programming and management of sports fields, Merwins Meadows and other recreational facilties. The Commission provides a recommend to the Board of Selectmen for the annual budget for the department and for bonded recreation related projects.  Commissioners represent residents of all ages and interests.

If you are interested in one or more of these opportunities or another listed on the Volunteer link on the Town website’s homepage, please follow the instructions found on that link.
