December 16th – Yesterday, the NYTimes provided searchable hospital ICU COVID patient and available occupancy data for the week ended December 10th.  Average ICU occupancies for area hospitals were reported as:  Stamford 78%, Bridgeport 84%, St. Vincent’s 26% Greenwich 27%, Danbury 80% and Norwalk 38%.

On today’s call with the Governor’s staff, CT’s DPH Commissioner provided an update on vaccine activity.  Connecticut hospitals received daily shipments in expected quantities.  The Governor’s vaccine advisory group is expected to recommend use of the Moderna vaccine.  Shipments of that vaccine are expected to begin this weekend with arrival in CT on Tuesday.

CVS and Walgreens are expected to begin vaccinating long-term care facility residents and staff this Friday.  This is a few days ahead of the original forecast.

The Wilton Police Department’s Annual Awards Ceremony was not able to be held this past March or anytime this year.  As such, the awards were announced today.  The lack of a ceremony does not diminish the outstanding work of the department.  Congratulations to 2019 Police Officer of the Year Officer Mark Canepari and to 2019 Community Police Officer of the Year Lieutenant Dave Hartman.  You can read more here and here and in the local press.

Tonight Governor Lamont issued Executive Order 9R, which among others, allowed municipalities to offer tax relief in the form of a tax deferral program and/or a low interest rate program for property taxes due on January 1st.  The Board of Selectmen will discuss the options at our meeting on Tuesday. An announcement about Wilton’s program and how to apply will be available shortly thereafter.
