Registrar of Voters

The Registrars administer all of Wilton’s elections, primaries and referenda in an accurate and impartial manner. They also register new voters and maintain Wilton’s official voter database.

Other duties include conducting an annual voter registration drive at Wilton High School, conducting the state mandated annual canvass of voters, providing supervised absentee ballot voting for certain voters in group living facilities, and developing and monitoring redistricting activities after each census. They also assist candidates, the public and the parties in the preparation of specialized voter lists and individual requests for information.

Wilton’s Registrars of Voters position is a shared responsibility between Democratic Registrar Karen Birck and Republican Registrar Annalisa Stravato. In addition, the office staffs two part-time Deputy Registrars and several part-time Assistant Registrars. The Registrars are elected to four year terms, are governed by Connecticut General Statutes, are the local arm of the Secretary of the State, and are financially supported by the Town of Wilton.
