Coronavirus Update-New Case, Executive Order 9, Use Proper Absentee Ballot Application & Case Data

September 4th– The following are highlights from today’s CT DPH report versus yesterday’s report: 

  • Wilton: 1 new case. 
  • Statewide:  156 new cases. .80% of tests performed reported positive.
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 7-net patient decrease. Fairfield County, 2-net patient decrease.
  • Deaths: Statewide, none.  Fairfield Country, none.

Today, the Governor issued Executive Order 9, which 

  • “Enables the Commissioner of Education and Commissioner of Early Childhood, in consultation with the Commissioner of Public Health, to issue binding guidance, rules, or orders, including for the wearing of masks or face coverings, for operation of schools or childcare settings that each deems necessary to response to COVID-19,” and;
  •  “Extends the previously enacted prohibition on the sale of alcohol by certain permittees that do not sell food through at least September 26, 2020, unless earlier modified or terminated.

When submitting an application for the November 3rd election, please ensure that the application submitted is for that election.  Applications for the August 11th primary cannot be used to obtain a ballot for the November election. 

Detailed Case Data:

The CT Data Center reported the following or Wilton as of 8:30 p.m. September 3rd and versus the dates prior to the start of Phase 1 and Phase 2:

  • 251 cases, 43 additional since June 16th and 50 since May 19th.
  • 3,761 residents tested, 2,611 since June 16th and 3,011 since May 19th.  Approximately 20% of Wilton residents have had at least one reported test. 
  • 5,199 tests performed, 3,747 since June 16th .
  • 42 deaths, 1 since June 16th and 5 since May 19th.

CT DPH reported the following for Fairfield County and Statewide as of 8:30 p.m. September 3rd:

  • 19,031 cases, 2,650 additional since 6/16      53,365 cases, 7,936 additional since 6/16
  • 1,415 deaths, 63 additional since 6/16           4,468 deaths, 249 additional since 6/16
  • 14 hospitalized, 54 less than 6/16                   58 hospitalized, 128 less than 6/16
