Coronavirus Update-New Cases, Sector Rules Applicability & Detailed Case Data

August 28th – The following are highlights from the CT DPH report as of 8:30 p.m. Thursday August 27th versus Sunday August 23rd:

  • Wilton: 1 new case. (Report didn’t include an additional new case known to the Wilton Health Department.)
  • Statewide: 484 new cases.  .97% of tests performed reported positive.
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 3-net patient increase. Fairfield County, 2-net patient increase
  • Deaths: Statewide, 5 deaths. Fairfield Country, 2 deaths. 

Younger residents continued to drive statewide case growth.  Statewide, residents aged 20-29 accounted for 23% of all new cases during Phase 2 versus 11% of cases as of May 19th, the day prior to the start of Phase 1.  Statewide, residents aged 10-19 accounted for 13% of all new cases during Phase 2 versus 2% of cases as of May 19th, the day prior to the start of Phase 1.

Residents have emailed to request clarification as to the applicability of the sector rules to events held on private property.  The Department of Economic and Community Development sector rules do apply to private property.  Please review the rules here.

Locations affected by the Connecticut Travel Advisory were updated as of Tuesday, August 25th.  

Detailed Case Data:

The CT Data Center reported the following for Wilton as of 8:30 p.m. August 27th and versus the dates prior to the start of Phase 1 and Phase 2:

  • 249 cases, 42 additional since June 16th and 49 since May 19th.
  • 3,548 residents tested, 2,398 since June 16th and 2,798 since May 19th.
  • 4,847 tests performed, 3,395 since June 16th .
  • 42 deaths, 1 since June 16th and 5 since May 19th.

CT DPH reported the following for Fairfield County and Statewide as of 8:30 p.m. August 27th:

  • 18,774 cases, 2,393 additional since 6/16      52,495 cases, 7,066 additional since 6/16
  • 1,413 deaths, 61 additional since 6/16           4,465 deaths, 246 additional since 6/16
  • 14 hospitalized, 54 less than 6/16                   60 hospitalized, 126 less than 6/16
