Coronavirus Update-Power Restoration Status & Detailed Case Data

August 5th – Highlights from the CT DPH report as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday August 4th versus the previous day’s report:

  • Wilton: no additional cases reported. Over the last 7 days, Wilton average cases per day fell to .14.
  • Statewide: test positive rate was .97%.  
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 0-net patient increase. Fairfield County, 2-net patient increase.  
  • Deaths: Statewide, no new deaths. 

Statewide outages total 586,488 as of 9:30 p.m. Although there were increases in Wilton’s outages throughout the day, as of 9:30 p.m. outages remained virtually unchanged from yesterday. The same was true for neighboring communities. 

Today, as DPW crews opened roads, new roads were added to the list of partially or fully closed road. There still remains a sizable number of roads to be cleared.

Today, Eversource contracted crews from Canada removed and repair downed wires.  Tonight, Eversource road clearing crews are addressing high priority roads. DPW personnel are working with Eversource throughout the night in an effort to quicken the pace of the work

Eversource is still not providing town wide restoration estimates. 

Reminders

  • Road crews push debris to the side of the road to be later removed. 
  • Do not place debris from your yard on the side of the road.  If you do, it will not be removed.  Do not discard debris on town property.
  • Please do not remove barriers, cones and police tape place on road to prevent drivers.  Dead wires can become active.  Residents, who removed these items today, put themselves and other residents at risk.
  • Water is available at Fire Headquarters.
  • Emergency oxygen is available at Fire Headquarters.

The CT Data Center reported the following for Wilton as of 8:30 p.m. August 4th and versus the dates prior to the start of Phase 1 and Phase 2:

  • 241 cases, 34 additional since June 16th and 41 since May 19th.
  • 2,805 residents tested, 1,655 since June 16th and 2,055 since May 19th.
  • 15% of Wilton residents have had one or more tests.
  • 3,711 tests performed, 2,259 since June 16th .
  • 42 deaths, 1 since June 16th and 5 since May 19th.

CT DPH reported the following for Fairfield County and Statewide as of 8:30 p.m. August 4th:

  • 17,912 cases, 1,531 additional since 6/16      50,225 cases, 4,796 additional since 6/16
  • 1,408 deaths, 56 additional since 6/16           4,437 deaths, 218 additional since 6/16
  • 9 hospitalized, 59 less than 6/16                     59 hospitalized, 127 less than 6/16
