Coronavirus Update- Support Wilton’s Small Businesses, Senior Drive-Thru Lunch, Phase 1.a. Vaccines, COVID Testing Sign-Up & Case Data

December 9th – Wilton’s small businesses are working hard to make it easy to shop by offering options: shopping by Zoom, by phone or online and private and curbside shopping.  You can learn more about many of our small businesses on the Shop Wilton Ct website or the Wilton Chamber website or check out their Facebook pages.  The Town is encouraging your support of small businesses with Shop Local, Win Local.  Shop local from December 7th to December 20th and win gift cards to local businesses.

Wilton’s Firefighters will handout lunches at next Wednesday’s drive-thru holiday lunch for Wilton Seniors at Comstock between 11:00 a.m. and noon. There will also be special gifts from the Girls Scouts and the Wilton Woman’s Club. 160 seniors have already signed up.  If you haven’t, contact Stephanie Rowe to reserve your lunch, then mark your calendar for December 16th!  This is the third monthly drive-thru lunch sponsored by Social Services and organized by Senior Activities Coordinator Stephanie Rowe and the Wilton Woman’s Club.

We had a call today with CT’s DPH Commissioner, who explained how vaccines will be administered under Phase 1.a.  Residents and staff of nursing and assisted living facilities will receive vaccines through the State’s pharmacy program.  During the week of December 21st, CVS and Walgreens will begin to visit the facilities to perform vaccinations. Hospitals will vaccinate their employees and those affiliated with the hospitals.  Federal certified health centers, local health departments and hospital will perform vaccinations for qualified medical workers not affiliated with a hospital.  Information on the distribution for future phases will be forthcoming.

Instructions on how to sign up for Friday’s COVID-19 PCR testing at Comstock Community Center are available here

Please, behave as if you have the virus and as if those around you do as well.
