Coronavirus Update-Transfer Station Hours, Vaccine Info, EO 10A, & Case Data

February 8th-Due to tomorrow’s expected snow, the Transfer Station will be closed tomorrow and will open for special hours on Wednesday, February 10th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Vaccine Information

Vaccine supplies are increasing this week with 58,000 first doses allocated to the state. At the end of the week, another 11,000 doses are expected to be shipped by the federal government directly to major pharmacy chains with a focus on rural and socially vulnerable communities.

As reported earlier today, residents 65 and up are eligible for appointments beginning Thursday, February 11th.  This group totals 350,000 residents statewide.  First doses for all is expected to require four weeks.

Appointments can be made utilizing the following tools:

  • VAMS online system: VAMS is the Vaccine Administration Management System and can be used to schedule appointments at multiple clinics.  click here
  • Call Connecticut’s COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Assist Line:  Call 877-918-2224.  The assist line is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. 
  • Hartford HealthCare:  click here.
  • Yale New Haven Health:  click here.
  • Stamford Healthclick here.
  • Walgreens: Walgreens is currently offering the vaccine at 12 different locations and will soon be adding many more across the state. click here.
  • CVS: CVS is currently offering the vaccine in four locations and will be expanding to 12 more locations in the next week. To make an appointment using this system, click here.
  • Walmart: Walmart will be offering the vaccine at seven locations across the state, including Norwalk. click here.

The Governor reported 56% of residents aged 75 and up have received at least one dose.  In total, 517,081 vaccines have been administered, 387,174 first doses and 129,907 second doses. 

The Governor issued Executive Order 10A, EXTENSION OF COVID-19 ORDERS, EXPIRATION OF HEALTHCARE FACILITY IMMUNITY AND OF CERTAIN ORDERS AFFECTING COURT OPERATIONS.

Cases Update

The following is data, as of 8:30 p.m. last night, from today’s CT DPH report versus Friday’s February 5th report.  

  • Wilton:  16 new cases reported. 868 cases pandemic-to-day (PTD). 4.1% of the 394 new tests reported were positive.  
  • Statewide:  4,367 new cases.  3.58% of the 122,145 new tests reported were positive.  263,739 cases PTD.
  • Fairfield County 1,067 new cases.  75,471 cases PTD.
  • Hospitalized Patients:  Statewide815 with a 12-net patient decrease. Fairfield County224 with a 10-net patient increase.
  • Deaths:  Statewide, 7,282 with 68 new deaths.  Fairfield County, 1,965 with 18 new deaths.  Wilton, 47, no new deaths.

  • Watch your distance
  • Wear a mask/face covering when you can’t maintain 6 feet of distance whether indoors or outside
  • Walk, run or bike to the right in single file when passing another person on the NRVT, sidewalks and trails
  • Wait to host indoor gatherings
  • Wash your hands
