Coronavirus Update- Vaccine Access, Vaccine & Case Data

January 26th –Many residents of Wilton and across the state are having difficulty scheduling an appointment for their second dose.  This is due to the limited supply of the vaccine.  Today CT DPH announced the following in an effort to address the situation.

  • Vaccinators using VAMS for appointment scheduling were asked not to publish a clinic more than 21 days or 28 day in advance depending on the product.
  • A new feature will be rolled out in VAMS that automatically protects 10% of all appointment slots for second doses only.

Social Services Director Sarah Heath asks all residents 75 and up requiring the Wilton’s concierge appointment booking service to

  • Please, email if comfortable, rather than calling.  Sarah.Heath@wiltonct.org This will allow the department to devote the necessary time to call only residents, who generally need more assistance.
  • Please, email your name, address, phone number and date of birth.
  • Please do not both email and call.

Thursday’s clinic is nearly full as we only received a shipment of 100 doses this week.

Today CT DPH shared information on their principles for vaccine allocations.

  • Equitable allocation across geographies – ensuring each region receives vaccine in line with its population.
  • Rapid access – ensuring providers only receive as much vaccine as they can confidently administer in a week.
  • Diverse channels – a considerable amount of Connecticut’s allocation will flow through hospital systems and mass vaccination sites, but also want to support other channels (e.g., pharmacies, local health departments, FQHCs, and clinics) to administer vaccine.
  • Local coordination-between local health districts and providers within the local health district.
