Coronavirus Update-Vaccine and Case Data
January 4th- As of this morning, the CDC reported 149,900 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been delivered to locations within Connecticut. Of those vaccines, 75,946 had been administered to residents. This represents a 232% of last Monday's total and 2.13% of the state’s population. Only seven states and the District of Columbia had a higher percentage of their population vaccinated. Nationwide, 15.42 million vaccines had been delivered and 4.56 million had been administered.
Today, the Governor announced over 85 active sites are administering the vaccine. Retail drugstores are expected to be added in approximately three weeks.
The Governor’s Vaccine Advisory Group meets tomorrow. They are expected to make a final recommendation for qualification criteria and the process for Phase 1B. The current schedule for Phases are as follows:
Phase 1A: December through January
Phase 1B followed by Phase 1C: Late January through May
Phase 2: June through December
The following is data, as of 8:30 p.m. last night, from today’s CT DPH report versus Thursday’s December 31st report:
- Wilton: 12 new cases reported. 614 cases YTD. Case growth rates in the second half of December decreased enough for Wilton to move back to an orange alert community after an extended period as a red alert community. Wilton is the only community in southwest Connecticut that is not a red alert community. Residents took note of the growth rate in October and November and adjusted accordingly.
- Statewide: 8,928 new cases. 6.04% of the 147,870 new tests reported were positive. 194,636 cases YTD.
- Fairfield County: 2,143 new cases. 58,431 cases YTD.
- Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 1,111 with a 25-net patient decrease. Fairfield County, 292 with a 3-net patient decrease.
- Deaths: Statewide, 6,168 with 173 new deaths. Fairfield County, 1,750 with 30 new deaths. Wilton, 45, with no new deaths.
The following chart shows the distribution of known cases by age for the previous 7-day periods and the current 7-day period. Newly known cases ranged in age from 10 to 90.
