Coronavirus Update- Vaccine Prioritization/Scheduling, COVID Property Tax Relief, Christmas Storm & Vaccine and Case Data

December 23rd-We’ve received questions about qualifying under Phases 1.b or 1.c and sign up for the vaccine during those phases.  The answer to both is the State has not yet issued final guidance. The Governor’s Vaccine Advisory Group is meeting today and next week. Once that information is determined and shared, we will pass it along.

COVID Property Tax Relief:  Last night, the Board of Selectmen authorized a 90-day COVID-19 tax deferral program for taxes due on January 1st.  The program is for both residential and commercial property taxpayers and will operate similar to that offered for taxes due on July 1st.  Look for more details, including the application, when Town Hall reopens on Monday.  Earlier today, we provided information about relief expected to be provided by the federal government through the recently passed COVID relief bill.

Christmas Storm:  Emergency Management Director and Chief of Police John Lynch warns of “a storm brewing for Thursday into Friday. The storm is forecasted to pack heavy rain and high wind gusts that have the potential to cause moderate power outages. The snow pack, along with the rain, may cause flooding to streets and basements. Once the storm passes, temperatures are expected to be below freezing.”

Town emergency personnel are prepared and have been in contact with Eversource. The Town’s Eversource liaison will be activated as of 6:00 p.m. tomorrow.  Please sign up for Eversource, Optimum and Frontier, if applicable, alerts, as well as urgent alerts from the Wilton Police Department.  Please use SeeClickFix to report all non 911 emergencies.

Despite what the storm might bring, a very merry Christmas to all celebrating.
