TEMPORARY LAND USE PERMIT PROCESS

NO NEED TO GET TAX SIGN OFF DURING THIS TIME AS OUR DEPARTMENT WILL COMPLETE THIS STEP.

CALL THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT 203-563-0177 FIRST IF UNABLE TO REACH US PLEASE EMAIL US AT [email protected] BEFORE YOUR VISIT TO VERIFY WHAT YOU WILL NEED AND CONFIRM WHAT FEES YOU WILL NEED OR ADDITIONAL PAPERWORK THAT MAY BE REQUIRED.

MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL PERMITS THAT DON’T REQUIRE A SITE APPROVAL:

  1. FILL OUT THE PERMIT FORM THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE LOBBY
  2. CALL THE OFFICE TO SEE IF AND WHAT THE FEE WOULD BE
  3. ATTACH THE PERMIT FORM, A COPY OF YOUR LICENSE AND THE FEE (CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY)
  4. DROP OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN THE BOX LABELED BUILDING DEPARTMENT SECURELY CLIPPED TOGETHER.

FOR MECHANICAL AND SITEWORK PERMITS (REQUIRING OTHER LAND USE DEPARTMENT SIGN OFFS): IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PLOT PLAN/SURVEY CALL THE BUILDING OR HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO SEE IF WE HAVE ONE THAT WE CAN EMAIL TO YOU.

  1. HAVE THE MECHANICAL/SITEWORK CHECKLIST FROM OUR WEBSITE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY,
  2. HAVE A CLEAN COPY OF A PLOT/SITE PLAN WITH THE LOCATION OF THE WORK NOTED ON THE PLAN ALSO INDICATING WHERE THE SEPTIC/WELL LOCATION IS.
  3. FEES WILL HAVE TO BE PAID ONCE THE REVIEW IS COMPLETE BY ALL DEPARTMENTS (CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY).WE WILL NOTIFY OF THESE FEES.
  4. DROP OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN THE BOX LABELED BUILDING DEPARTMENT SECURELY CLIPPED TOGETHER.

FOR RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL BUILDING PROJECTS: CALL OR EMAIL OUR OFFICE FIRST.  

  1. DOWNLOAD THE GENERAL LAND USE CHECKLIST FROM OUR WEBSITE AND FILL OUT ALL COMPLETELY
  2. MAKE SURE ALL FORMS ARE SIGNED AND YOUR LICENSE AND WORKER’S COMP CERTIFICATE IS ATTACHED.
  3. ATTACH 2 SETS OF STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS AND SITE PLANS.
  4. DROP OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN BOX LABELED BUILDING DEPARTMENT SECURELY CLIPPED TOGETHER.
  5. PAYMENT OF FEES AND SIGNED APPLICATIONS WILL BE DONE ONCE REVIEWS ARE COMPLETE.

MINOR/SOLAR PERMITS:

  1. FILL OUT THE MINOR OR MINOR SOLAR PERMIT PACKET COMPLETELY BEING SURE ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION IS SIGNED AND ATTACHED.
  2. CALL THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT BEFORE DROPPING OFF TO CONFIRM WHAT THE PERMIT FEE WILL BE AND INCLUDE A CHECK FOR THE FEE QUOTED.
  3. SOLAR PERMITS ALSO REQUIRE THE ELECTRICAL PERMIT FORM TO BE INCLUDED.
  4. DROP OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN BOX LABELED BUILDING DEPARTMENT SECURELY CLIPPED TOGETHER.

 

DEMOLITION PERMITS: FORMS AVAILABLE ONLINE

  1. FILL OUT THE FORMS COMPLETELY FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS IN THE PACKET.
  2. CALL THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT TO CHECK YOU HAVE EVERYTHING FOR THE SUBMITTAL AND WHAT THE FEE WILL BE.
  3. DROP OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN BOX LABELED BUILDING DEPARTMENT SECURELY CLIPPED TOGETHER WITH APPROPRIATE FEE (CHECK ONLY).

HEALTH DEPARTMENT PERMITS: 203-563-0174

WELL PERMITS:

  1. CALL THE OFFICE AHEAD TO VERIFY THE FEE YOU WILL NEED
  2. INCLUDE THE COMPLETED WELL PERMIT APPICATION.
  3. DROP FORM AND FEE (CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY) IN THE BOX LABELED HEALTH DEPARTMENT IN THE ANNEX LOBBY. (BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION)

SEPTIC AND SOIL TEST APPLICATIONS AND PERMITS:

  1. CALL THE OFFICE AHEAD TO VERIFY THE FEE YOU WILL NEED TO ATTACH WITH YOUR APPLICATION AND WHAT PLANS WILL BE REQUIRED.
  2. DROP OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN BOX LABELED HEALTH DEPARTMENT WITH THE INDICATED FEE AND NECESSARY APPLICATION (CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY).

CONSERVATION/WETLANDS: 203-563-0180

  1. CALL THE OFFICE IN ADVANCE TO VERIFY WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
  2. DROP COMPLETED PACKET WITH YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION OFF IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN THE BOX LABELED WETLANDS DEPARTMENT.

PLANNING AND ZONING: 203-563-0185

  1. CALL THE OFFICE IN ADVANCE TO VERIFY WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
  2. DROP OFF COMPLETED PACKET WITH YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE ANNEX LOBBY IN THE BOX LABELED ZONING DEPARTMENT.

SIGN PERMITS:

  1. DROP OFF THE SIGN/RENDERING PLAN, WITH THE PROJECT INFORMATION ON A SEPARATE SHEET INDICATING THE OWNER’S INFORMATION INCLUDING THE ADDRESS OF THE SIGN LOCATION, APPLICANT NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION INCLUDING EMAIL ADDRESS AND A $100 FEE.
  2. WE WILL CALL OR EMAIL YOU WHEN IT HAS BEEN REVIEWED. DROP IN BOX LABELED ZONING DEPARTMENT IN THE ANNEX LOBBY.
