Coronavirus Update- Vaccination Information, Shop Local, Win Local Returns & Case Data

December 2nd - The following is data from today’s CT DPH report versus Tuesday’s December 1st report:

  • Wilton:  5 new cases reported. 475 cases YTD.  
  • Statewide:  2,672 new cases.  6.52% of new tests reported were positive.  121,426 cases YTD.
  • Fairfield County:  1,017 new cases.  39,773 cases YTD.
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 1,202 with a 50-net patient increase. Fairfield County, 375, with a 29-net patient increase.
  • Deaths: Statewide, 5,091 with 51 new deaths.  Fairfield County, 1,532 with 16 new deaths.  Wilton, 44, with no new deaths. 

Cases newly known to Wilton’s Health Department ranged in age from 21 to 75.  

The following chart shows the distribution of known cases by age for the previous 7-day periods and the first two days of the current week.

Within the last 30 days, there has been a disturbing increase in the rate of statewide deaths.  There were 464 deaths during the last 30 days versus 114 during the previous 30 days.  The age distribution of deaths remained consistent during the last 30 days, with only a slight shift between the oldest to those aged 40 to 59.

Vaccination Resources

The Town’s Coronavirus page has information related to vaccinations, including the State’s draft Mass Vaccination Plan.  The page will be updated as more information is received. 

Shop Local, Win Local Returns

As we did in the spring, the Town is offering a Shop Local, Win Local Contest from December 7th through December 20th.  The rules are the same. When you spend at least $15 at a Wilton retailer from December 7th through December 20th, take a picture of your receipt or a selfie of you and your purchase and email to sarah.gioffre@wiltonct.org. Please no more than one submission per day. There will be four winners drawn each week for a total of 8 winners. Shop Local, Win Local in Wilton winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to a Wilton retailer. 

Please, behave as if you have the virus and as if those around you do as well.

  • Wear a mask/face covering when you can’t maintain 6 feet of distance whether indoors or outside
  • Walk, run or bike to the right in single file when passing another person on the NRVT, sidewalks and trails
  • Wait to host indoor gatherings
  • Wash your hands
