Imposter Scam involving the Wilton Police

We have received reports from several residents that have reported being contacted on their mobile phone by a fraudster impersonating our Wilton Police Department Chief of Police. The fraudster is requesting money to resolve some fictitious event such as a traffic ticket or criminal arrest. Imposter scams come in many varieties, but work the same way: a scammer pretends to be someone you trust to convince you to send them money. We will never contact you to request money.
